SkyRanch at Carefree
SkyRanch at Carefree is Arizona's first fly-in residential community — a private airport and residential enclave that has been operating since the 1950s. The concept was built into the original Carefree master plan by K.T. Palmer and Tom Darlington: a private runway allowing residents to fly in, land, and taxi directly to their homes. That foundational idea is still operational today, making SkyRanch one of a very small number of fly-in communities in the entire Phoenix metropolitan area.
The Homes
SkyRanch's residential product is patio townhomes — built in clusters of three, sharing walls and a community pool, tennis courts, and pickleball courts. Units are generally 2–3 bedrooms and were built across several phases, giving the community some architectural variety.
